CSU launches its own standalone Medicine program for 2027 entry 👩⚕️📚
Charles Sturt University (CSU) is launching its own independent medical program, the Bachelor of Clinical Science (Medicine)/Doctor of Medicine, with the first cohort commencing in March 2027.
Previously, CSU delivered medicine collaboratively with Western Sydney University through the Joint Program in Medicine (JPM). From 2027 onwards, CSU will offer its own standalone medical pathway with a strong focus on rural and regional healthcare training.
📖 Program Structure
After completing the first three years, students may choose to graduate with a Bachelor of Clinical Science (Medicine) or continue into years four and five to complete the Doctor of Medicine (MD).

CSU accepts both school leavers and non-school leavers through a single application pool, with no separate process for non-standard applicants.
Eligible non-school leavers can apply through both rural and non-rural pathways and will be assessed using GPA rather than ATAR requirements. Minimum GPA thresholds vary depending on previous tertiary study completed.

- No lateral or advanced entry available
- Postgraduate applicants must start from Year 1
- The full five-year pathway must be completed for the MD qualification
- Applications are submitted via UAC
- The course now has its own dedicated CSU course code
